Anyone get regular contractions, turn into painful ones, lots of pressure.. then everything suddenly stops?

I know how you feel and it's not fun! I was in very painful labor with contractions about a minute apart for over 5 hours then my labor slowed down and finally stopped for a whole day. My son came out with the side of his head coned. He wasn't in a good position and I think that's what stopped everything up. I don't really know I am just guessing. Since then, many people have told me that the longest part can be from 0-4cm. I know it's tough, but hang in there. You can do it!!!
